Union Station as it appeared in the early 1950s. It was the passenger depot for the Illinois Central railroad, complete with a lunch counter and barber shop. Passenger rail service ceased operation in the mid-1950s.
The Rising Sun Hotel was built at the northwest corner of First and Broadway, in 1856. It cost the builders all of $40 to purchase the lot. So it might be said by some, that Paducah had a House of the Rising Sun!
